2025 CQ World-Wide DX Contest

SSB: October 25-26 CW: November 29-30
Starts: Saturday 00:00:00 UTC Ends: Sunday 23:59:59 UTC

I. OBJECTIVE

For amateurs worldwide to contact as many other amateurs in as many CQ Zones and countries as possible.1

II. BANDS2

Six bands only: 1.8, 3.5, 7, 14, 21, and 28 MHz.3
Observance of established band plans is strongly encouraged.4

III. CONTEST EXCHANGE5

  • SSB: RS report + 6CQ Zone number (e.g. 59 05)
  • CW: RST report + CQ Zone number (e.g. 599 05)

IV. SCORING

A. Score

Final score = Total QSO points $\times$ (Sum of Zone + Country multipliers). Example: $1000~QSO~points\times(30~Zones+70~Countries)=100,000$ (final score).

B. QSO Points

  • The same station may be worked once per band.
  • Points are calculated based on the location of the station worked:
  • Stations on different continents: 3 points
  • Stations on the same continent, but different countries: 1 point
  • Stations in different countries within the North American continent: 2 points
  • Stations in the same country: 0 points (only the multiplier counts).

C. Multipliers

  • Zone: 1 multiplier for each different CQ Zone contacted on each band.
  • Country: 1 multiplier for each different country contacted on each band.
  • Definition: DXCC list + WAE list $+IG9/IH9$.
  • Maritime mobile stations count only as a zone multiplier.

V. CATEGORIES

A. Single Operator

  • One person performs all operating and logging functions.
  • Operating time is unlimited.
  • Only 1 signal can be transmitted at the same time.
  1. Single Operator Unassisted:

-High Power: Max. 1500 W
-Low Power: Max. 100 W
-QRP: Max. 5 W

  1. Single Operator Assisted:

       -High Power Assisted: Max. 1500 W
       -Low Power Assisted: Max. 100 W

QRP Assisted: Max. 5 W

B. Single Operator Overlay Categories

  1. Classic Operator (CLASSIC): Single radio, no assistance, max 24 hours of operation.
  2. Rookie (ROOKIE): Amateur licensed within the last 3 years.
  3. Youth (YOUTH): Age 25 and under.

C. Multi-Operator (Multi-Op)

  1. Multi-Single - 10-minute band/station limitation.
  2. Multi-Two - Max. 2 signals, on 2 different bands.
  3. Multi-Multi - All bands active simultaneously.
  4. Multi-Distributed - Max. 6 signals, at different locations, within the same DXCC and CQ zone.

D. Checklog

Log submitted for assistance, not included in scoring.

VI. AWARDS

  • Certificates: Electronic certificate for all participants.
  • Plaques: Awarded to category winners (only 1 per entry).

VII. CLUB COMPETITION

  • US Clubs: Members residing within a 250-mile radius.
  • DX Clubs: Members residing within the club country or within a 400 km radius.
  • National organizations (JARL, REF, DARC, etc.) cannot participate.
  • A minimum of 4 logs must be submitted.

VIII. DEFINITIONS

  • Station location: All equipment must be within a 500 m radius.
  • QSO finding assistance: All systems such as DX cluster, RBN, CW decoder, etc.

IX. GENERAL RULES

  • Category limits must not be exceeded.
  • A different call sign must be used for each entry.
  • Self-spotting is prohibited.
  • Remote operation is possible (with the single station location requirement).
  • Only 1 signal is permitted on the same band at the same time.
  • Specific prohibitions for ITU Region 1:
  • Above 7200 kHz on 40 m in SSB is prohibited.
  • Below 1810 kHz is prohibited.

X. LOG INSTRUCTIONS

  • Electronic log is mandatory.
  • Cabrillo format must be used.
  • Upload address: cqww.com/logcheck/
  • US stations must include their state in the log header.

XI. LOG DEADLINE

  • SSB: October 31, 2025, 23:59 UTC
  • CW: December 5, 2025, 23:59 UTC
  • Late logs cannot receive awards.

XII. JUDGING

  • Committee: CQ WW DX Contest Committee.
  • Examples of unsportsmanlike conduct:
  • Arranging a QSO via Internet/phone,
  • Operating on unlicensed frequencies,
  • Manipulation of time logging,
  • Excessive faulty QSOs/multipliers,
  • Excessively wideband signal.
  • Audio Recordings: Single operators aiming for a world/continent/USA top 5 finish must record the entire contest period.
  • Station Information: Equipment/photos must be provided if requested.
  • Penalties: Disqualified entrants will be listed separately in the results.
  • Log Checking:
  • Duplicate QSO $\rightarrow$ deleted, no penalty.
  • Incorrect exchange $\rightarrow$ deleted.
  • Wrong call/NIL $\rightarrow$ 2 times point penalty.

XIII. DECLARATION

Every participant submitting a log:

  1. Is considered to have read and accepted the rules.
  2. Agrees that they have operated in accordance with their license rules.
  3. Agrees that their log may be made public.
  4. Agrees that the Committee's decisions are final.
